Breed Profile:

The Dogs:

All of our Breeding Dogs are fed a natural diet of beef and chicken, vitamins and minerals, Omega 6 and Omega 3 oils, with a very small amount of dry food. They are exercised twice daily and swim in the creek that runs through our farm in hot weather.

Our Sires (males):

Mino:
2 year old pure Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, sire of our Cavadors and Cavatrievers. Mino has been selected for his delightful friendly, placid nature and temperament producing with help of Artificial Insemination very cute, playful and active designer puppies.

Wally:
Our pure Golden Retriever is 3 years old and has a very soft nature. He loves to fetch and swim. Produces very high quality, cute puppies and is used to sire our retrievadors litters.

Rosco:
English cocker spaniel. 4 years, delightful nature, easily trained, deep gold in colour, sires our Cocker Spaniel replacements and is the sire of our Spanadors and spanatrievers with the help of artificial insemination.

Tommy and Toby :
Our mini poodle sire, Tommy is super friendly and very smart. He loves to play tricks and have a cuddle. Two years old he is the sire of some of our spoodles, cavoodles and Mini Groodle puppies. Toby is now retired and lives locally with an elderly couple enjoying the quieter life.

Billy:
Our new sire for Mini-Groodle and Spoodles. A very gentle, friendly and loving-natured Miniature Poodle. 2 year old.

Buster:
Black standard poodle sire. Very affectionate and soft natured. Loves to run and is very intelligent. 4 yeards old.

Dexter:
Our cream standard Poodle, Dexter is 5 years old and is the sire for our Groodle litters. A very playful, friendly natured poodle. Very smart and well trained. Our 2yr old grandson Riley loves to play with him!

Spoodles

Miniature Poodle X English and English/American Cocker Spaniel

The spoodle is possibly now Australia's most popular medium sized designer dog. We have had great success with these bright, intelligent and friendly dogs.
The miniature poodle male has been purposely bred to a cocker spaniel female to produce a spoodle. This enhances the intelligence of the cocker spaniel as the mini poodle is highly intelligent. So by bringing these together to create a spoodle, you have the best these two breeds can offer and friendly, playful and intelligent puppy. Spoodles suit suburban living as they are lower shed and non-allergenic and also suit the elderly and families. Spoodles are a small-medium sized dog averaging 30-40cm and 10-12kg fully grown.

Groodles

Standard Poodle X Golden Retriever

We at Rivergum were one of the first to breed the groodle, which has now become one of the most sort after designer breeds due to lovely nature whilst being a larger sized dog. The groodle has a softer, quieter nature which appeals to families, kids and singles alike and are very much the companion dog. Their softer coat is variable, some being curly, some more like a golden retriever however are still low shedding and low allergenic. The groodle averages 30-45kg and about 65cm fully grown.

Spanadors

Labrador X Cocker Spaniel

These designer puppies are for everyone who don't particularly want a poodle cross designer or a large dog. A spanador is a medium, smooth coated water lover which will suit outdoor, fun loving families. Both the labrador and cocker spaniel qualities come through with this breed, they love to retrieve, play and run but they are only a medium size so they will suit active people in both surburn homes and smaller acreage properties. Spanadors average 22kg and 55cm fully grown.

Cavadors

Cavalier King Charles male X Labrador

By mating one of the most popular small-breed males with one of the popular large-breed females (with the help of TCI insemination) we have produced a designer puppy we call a Cavador.
This breed will be a medium-sized, short/medium coated, active, friendly family pet that will suit most families. They average 55cm and 22kg fully grown.

Beagliers

Beaglier x Cavalier King Charles male

The Beagalier breed retains the type and shape of the beagle without the overpowering desire to hunt which is natural for hounds. It also has the loving, social personality which is attributed to the Cavalier King Charles. Beagaliers are intelligent and confident by nature - they love being around people and other dogs and have variable coat colours and markings. Beagliers will grow to be a medium sized dog averaging 15kg and 45cm.

Our specialised breeds are some of our most popular but rarer breeds. We have recently purchased a Ureterscope for the use of TCI insemination and after having attended a canine artifical insemination seminar conducted by one of the world's leading veterianas we hope to be able to improve the conception rate of our much sort after Mini groodles.

Other very popular TCI inseminated breeds such as the Spanatriever and also naturally mated breeds being the Cavashons, Retrievador and Cavoodles are wonderful family pets and are breeds we dont have available all the time but enjoy at different stages throughout the year.
